A Company is Born

I would like to start by saying it is exciting to finally be moving forward with a life-long dream.  I have finally decided to launch Worthington Remodeling and Repair, LLC in central Wisconsin.  I can't wait to get out and get my hands dirty helping people repair their homes or making their wish list come to life.

Please check back often.  My intention is to use this blog to highlight projects being worked on, tools and styles that I think are top-notch and some easy DIY projects that the average home-owner can pursue on their own.  Follow me on my path in launching a business.

My "doors" officially open on Monday, March 3, 2014. In the meantime, I would like to remind folks during this VERY COLD winter of a trick that will help you avoid having to pay for some major home repairs:

Trickle your Water.

As we all know, water has a unique property in that it expands as it freezes. This expansion puts tremendous pressure on whatever is containing it, including metal or plastic pipes. Expansion in a pipe = burst pipes.  Pipes that freeze most frequently water supply pipes in unheated interior areas like basements and crawl spaces, attics, garages, or kitchen cabinets. Pipes that run against exterior walls that have little or no insulation are also subject to freezing

To prevent frozen pipes, let the cold water drip from the faucet served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe - even at a trickle (the width of a pencil) - helps prevent pipes from freezing.

See you back here soon!
